Just got my new 740! yeah! So far only updated and bench set-up and can't wait for the next VFR day... Will report back.

I went from the 700 to the 720 and now the 740 (thanks, Shane) and still concerned about the external antenna connector, as I take the GPS home after every flight - plug / unplug that delicate connector. So, I'm thinking of adding a short extension that would stay with the unit. Is this a good idea? Where do I get one?

Thanks,

I connect and disconnect mine frequently too as I use my 740 in an AirGizmo Dock. Though I've not had any issues with my 700, 720 or 740. I try to pinch close to the base, twist and pull straight out, using the case as a leverage point. As with any of these MCX connectors, you don't want to rock the plug side to side. Use a pinch, twist and pull motion and you should have no issues. However, if you wanted to put a pigtail on your 740, I've put a link to an item in eBay. You might also check at www.digikey.com, they have lots of connectors.

Shane. I went to E-Bay no joy the site is not working, and digikey.com do not respond to the search for a 'Pigtail' what should i be asking FOR could you help us with the "technical Term' for a power pigtail of about 3 to 5 inches as i like the idea of unplugging the unit as little as possible ( I had to have the plug re-soldered already once)
I thank you for the help

Ciao
