Guys,
I have an been using the Lithium battery with my iFly 720 quite successfully until an incident last Sunday. I run power from the plane to the battery and then from the battery to the GPS. I had been up for about 0.8 hrs when I smelled smoke and then the GPS shut down. I found the battery was very hot. Almost to the point where I couldn't touch it. I peeled it off the back of the GPS and placed it on a small towel I had and was flipping it as I was heading back to the closest airport. I should note that I fly a Thorp T18, and it is not possible to slide the canopy back to throw the battery out when in flight. This has me worried since I have heard about runaway lithium batteries and the damage they can cause. This was only the second flight with this battery.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with the lithium battery?
Regards,
