To all who seek Clarity (no pun intended or implied!) on Clarity ADS-B AHRS systems.

I fired off an email to request sending my system back to update the wifi. Here's the reply

"We designed it with the peer to peer ad-hoc network and that is all it is currently compatible with. We do not have plans to redesign this configuration."

So I guess we wait and hope Walter and crew can resolve the issue at the iFly interface.

Paul

PS - I've got a Clarity SV for sale like new condition, great price, many options!!!!!!

Paul,

I am continuing my email dialogue with Lindsey although the more I read about others complaining about the problems with the unit, the more I think we are just screwed. I'm confident that Walter and his team will eventually solve Clarity's problem but will we ever trust the Clarity in flight again? This past weekend I discovered another significant problem (I think is significant). I was playing with the window mount which they gave me in my home office (mounted above the ac duct). The unit powered down after about 5 min. I repeated this numerous times and found it would run about 5 min then power down. Although the battery should not have been low (about 3 hours of usage on the last flight), I figured the battery might be low. I plugged in the external power source and the external power source could not keep the unit running. What is the significance? Imagine flying along with lots of weather in the area and suddenly the unit battery dies. I would have thought we could simply plug it into a cig 12V source and go about our business. Wrong!!! Clarity even sells a 12V car charger for $25 which to me implies that it will work in flight.

I have also have a Clarity SV with all accessories for sale.

Dogbreth,

I have been involved in GA and electronic manufacturing for over 35 years and the situation we are having with Sagetech is one of the saddest experiences to date! I have not had the system shut down on me after the window mount work around, but I have never used the wall wart to power it. I think they state in the ops book that there would be issues in doing so. My suggestion is fully charge up the SV with it shut off and give it a go. I have had very good battery life (in excess of 6 hrs) so far.

Regardless, I am way less than satisfied and will probably list it for sale on craigs list and or barnstormers. I am currently looking at the other options and may travel to Sportys tomorrow to look at what they have to offer.

It is really a shame that we are struggling to get a device that is suppose to offer us safety and data to avoid problems to even function as stated by the manufacturer.

I do not hold AP responsible and thank Walter and crew for their willingness to muck through the issue with us and try to find a resolve for the problem.

Hang in there, we are not alone!

Paul

Paul,

You and I are on the same page... I had read in their manual about possible problems using the unit with the charger but on the other hand they offer for $25 a 12v plug (which to me implies that one could use it) I have recharged my unit so I may just turn it on and see how long the battery lasts....the fact that there really is no way to tell the battery life means that you have to make a deliberate effort to charge it before every flight... I don't always have that luxury or memory...all my other toys with batteries in the airplane have DC power connection if necessary. I sent Lindsey another email today requesting a refund again....not that I'm expecting anything

is Craigs list safe for this stuff?

btw, my lady friend pilot got her Stratus 2 two weeks ago, its a true delight... plug n play perfectly with no problems
