Just wanted to remind fellow iFly users about the iFly Connect capability. If you've got a Windows PC and an SD card reader, this tool will perform an update directly to the iFly data card, instead of using the USB method (for iFly 700/720) or wifi method (for the 720). There's a new software update coming (the Beta's been out for a little while) that will include a large amount of data. My 720 updating via wifi was going to take a pretty long time...well over an hour if I recall correctly.

For the heck of it, I decided to pop the SD card out and stick it in my computer and use the iFly Connect applet to do the work. The speed was quite a bit faster--I downloaed the whole data package is something like 15-20 min or so, instead.

I'm normally in no hurry and typically prefer the convenience of the wifi update process. However, there are occasions when the iFly Connect option comes in very handy. If you've never used it before, the upcoming software update may be the time to give it a try!

I did that last weekend. I brought home my 720 to do updates. Through Wi-Fi I was getting about 1 mbps. I stopped the download and pulled the SD card and put it in in my PC. I then was getting about 6mbps using iFly Connect. If at home or office a much faster way to go if you have a lot of updates.

So I took out the sd card and put it into my dell PCM running windows and I get the message that the card has to be formatted.

well I know the card is loaded with info so I aborted that mission and went ahead with the slow wifi update.

any suggestions?

thanks

You should be able to just select cancel. You do not want to format the card. I've seen this before, just try and either ignore the request to format or select cancel / close. It should go ahead and let you run the update. I hope this helps.

Thanks

I inserted the SD card into a USB adapter and it read the card great. The download speed was way faster than by wifi

Not sure if my SD slot on the actual desktop was having an issue

Love the auto taxi and auto map idea. will try it out soon
