Here's a follow-up:

I talked to Ed Moore of Adventure Pilot on the phone today and it was determined that I have such an old version of the iFly 700 that I need an operating system update since the software driver for the USB connection from the Skyradar-L was not found.

The operating system for your box can be found from the main page for the box (not in the iFly software). There is a "Configuration" selection that shows the O/S for the box. I had 6.0.0 and I believe the latest is 6.0.11. I will be sent an update.

S. Morgan

PS
As far as looking at the lights on my new Skyradar-L, the ADSB LED was only lit when I was near DCA and was probably receiving traffic alerts, but I could not be sure. I also don't have an iPad so I can't checkout the operation of the Skyradar-L without making it work with the iFly 700.

I'm going to assume this is for Jeff Clark and not for me.

Anything new on the horizon for this spring/summer time frame? I have the iFly 720 and want weather and traffic. Thank you. DM

DM,

Take a look at the iLevil and the Clarity. They will offer ADSB WX and Traffic. Just keep in mind that unless you get an ADSB in/out or Transceiver, your traffic will be very limited. NavWorx makes a nice transceiver, the ADS-600B. I'd consider it more semi-portable. We are also working with FreeFlight as they have the Ranger and Xplorer. Stay tuned to this market, it's moving.
