I knew when I installed the iFly GPS antenna that I might regret using the adheasive that is supplied on the back of the antenna. That day has come because I want to try a different attachment point.

Has anyone removed/moved the antenna once installed with the supplied adheasive? Is there a pry action removal method that some else has used?

I tried to pry on it a little but was afraid that I might break the antenna.

You might try and spray just a small amount of WD-40 on the adhesive and let it set for a few minutes. Then I'd use a thin flat putty knife or plastic pry tool. Start with one corner and slowly work to the other side while keeping the adhesive moist with WD-40 or adhesive remover like Goof Off. Just be careful of the surface you are applying it to. Hope this helps.

I suggest that you use a mild heat source such as a hair dryer to carefully soften the adhesive before trying to twist it off or using a non-metallic putty knife/ spatula.

I finally got around to removing the antenna due to being busy flying or other non-flying activities.

Thanks Jim, I had forgotten about using a hair dryer. It worked like a charm, had it off in less than a minute.

While heating it up, it twisted cleanly off from the antenna. I was then able to 'roll' the adhesive off the plane, only left a few small pieces which came off with Goo Remover. Took a little longer time to remove with Goo Remover.
