For the first time in years, my IFly 700 failed in a way that was not solved by rebooting the unit or disconnecting and connecting the SD card. I had just flown for about an hour and a half. Upon my return to the airplane, when I attempted to get the IFly started, it showed a failure in the sectional.exe routine. The only available option was to quit. Upon quitting, the screen came back to the home screen. I rebooted several times and ejected/inserted the card to no avail. That day I was not able to wake it up at all.

I just updated the sd card this morning and, other than the weather, the only other new version of anything was a WAC chart. Even though the expiration on the installed one was 2/5, the update indicated that there was a different version with the same expiration date. I performed the update and now the IFly works fine.

Was there something wrong with that particular file? I thought that unless you updated software, the sectionals were just files and not "exe" routines. I was not using the WAC chart at the time of the failure. My serial number is MB110249 and I am running version 7.5.20

Alberto,

The esectional.exe error is an unhandled error. We did have to fix and upload a new WAC chart. These are separate instances and I don't think they are related. From what it sounds, I think the esectional error might have been a fluke or possible anomaly. Keep an eye on it, if you don't see this again, I wouldn't stress over it. It could have been a simple timing error that was mishandled and corrupted a thread.

Anytime you reboot, make sure you power off or unplug the unit for a good 20 seconds to make sure all power is depleted. I hope this helps.
