Hello Walter and All!

Well after many reboots and various attempts to disable the GPS I can not get the system to allow it. I finally used a layer of aluminum foil wrapped around the back of the iFly and then made hoods of a few pieces of foil and surrounded the system with them to block the GPS lock. This allows the external info coming from my Xplane flight sim to give the iFly position and other data.

It works until I remove the shroud and wrap. As soon as the iFly captures and locks its GPS signal there is no way to get the external data live again without rebooting and making sure the system is covered.

Is there any way to disarm the internal GPS? I tried Menu...About.....Connected Devices.....Serial Ports......Com 2......Do not use this port.....and save only to go back into the serial port management screen to see it set as default GPS (once again not a bad thing but hoping to avoid all the foil). And the iFLy would get a GPS lock and ignore the Xplane data.

Please let me know I can be reached by email or give you a call to describe the issue further.

Thank you again for a fantastic Nav Aid the 720 is an amazing device!

Happy and Prosperous New to ALL!

Paul,

You can fix this by disabling COM2 (which is the internal GPS). With the unit on and a the Map page, just touch Menu -> About -> Connected Devices -> Serial Ports, select COM2, then select Disable and save.

Important: Before you take your next real flight, be sure and re-enable this port or you'll never get a GPS lock!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
