IFlyGPS with RedBird Sim

Has anyone had success using their EFB with a RedBird simulator? IFlyGPS on my android tablet syncs up automatically with XPlane 11 on my home p.c., but I couldn't get it to "find" the RedBird GPS during a sim session this morning. My tablet was accessing the RedBird WI-Fi network.
