Just to clarify, is it a PITA to take the SD card out of your iFly because of the way it's mounted the card is hard to access? Or is it a PITA to bring it home in case there is a needed update before your next flight, remembering to actually update it, keeping track of it, finally remembering to bring it back to the airport and return it to the iFly? If it's the latter, you might consider getting a second SD card. You'd still have PITA items in the second list, but at least if you messed up and the card or new information doesn't make it to the airport, you'll still have a useable iFly, although with some outdated information.
It's both, in my case. I have to take the iFly loose from the panel in order to get the card out. AND it's a pain to bring the card home.
I've tried swapping cards, but that means the cards get out of sync with each other, so that's a different kind of PIA. The best solution has been to download an update to a USB drive and then use it to update the 740. But that's more complicted than just bringing the 740 home, which is what I usually do.
(The biggest PIA of all is driving to the airport to go flying and then realizing that the 740 is at home.)
