The brightness issue may be subjective, and that all depends on the individual's experience,expectation, the day the flight takes place and most importantly the type of plane flown. Surely if you fly a high wing aircraft where you always have shade above you, the screen brightness, resolution, NIX or whatever the proper terminology is won't be an issue. In a low wing aircraft with rather large side windows, you will have a different experience.

For the record I am an staunch advocate of this unit. This forum is for members to share their experience and ask question or seek for advise, which is what I did.

I just rolled my iFly back to v2.23 to see how the screen brightness worked. From this limited test, it appears that my recollection of the brightness was a bit flawed. The screen brightness on v2.23 seemed the same as v5.15. So, I guess I have to say I was mistaken in my earlier comment about screen brightness. Then again, there could have been a problem with the initial deployment of my v5.15. I could have sworn that when I used the remote to dim the screen, it stepped the brightness down to completely black. After re-installing v5.15 it works exactly as it should, (steps down to a less bright, but not completely black). The night mode doesn't even step down to completely black. Only the on/off switch via the remote turns the screen off.

Mike, thanks for taking the time to share these results. IMO, the perceived screen brightness can vary greatly depending on conditions. To compare flights that are days/weeks/months apart and judge the brightness of the screen is not very reliable. What you have provided evidence for is that there is a negligible difference in brightness (if any) no matter what version you have.
