Lost signal today over the Adirondacks, but continued monitoring progress until I realized it. (I know, I should be watching the compass...) Signal came back after a cold shutdown:

1) Does the 720 make an attempt to re-connect with the satellites? or was the re-connect a coincidence?

2) A more noticeable message would be nice. Since there is no signal, a very large X over the middle of the screen seems appropriate.

Thanks,

Hi Robert,

The iFly does continually try to maintain / reestablish a GPS lock, so waiting should have worked. There are so many factors that can contribute to a loss of GPS lock, it's hard to say what happend in your situation.

I'll make a feature request about a a better loss-of-signal notification. Currently we have a red bar with bold text across the top of the screen indicating this situation.

Thanks!
Walter

Hi Walter:

I know the red filled box should be enough to get our attention when GPS signal is lost, but I confess that I missed it in flight for about 15 minutes on my long AZ FL trip. (It was a long stretch over TX, zoomed out a bit, where nothing changes much.) I only noticed it after I realized my own-ship hadn't moved for a while. (And all the time I thought I was holding course perfectly! <grin>)

Brainstorming: Perhaps a flashing "No GPS Position Lock" box, although I think most of us are learning to tune out flashing ads on webpages. Maybe you could move the Red box around the screen, like an anti-burnout screen saver moves? That should get our attention. A "black/yellow" chevron like border flashing around the whole display? Own ship blinks by alternating to an giant X? (Or a Mr. Yuk face? (Just joking.))

Well noted, thanks.

Another thought: How about removing the little airplane so a quick glance will not indicate a false position. I am seeing this in addition to the large X.
