My 720 will no longer update as I can't get the bottom right corner update button to highlight or react by finger or stylus. As I press a little above the button the bottom most row of sectionals etc., highlights. The fast weather/TFR update button does work. Perhaps related, when I try to reset the screen alignment the cross hair reacts, moves to the next locations around the screen but despite 10 or more full cycles never leaves this calibration mode. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Same problem --- had to send mine back to AP for new screen --- expensive!

That sounds like the touch screen layer needs to be replaced. However this can also happen if there is a low voltage/low current situation, so try the calibration exercise on another power source if possible. If it still doesn't work, please contact our support team for repair instructions. If the unit is under warranty of couse we'll take care of it. If it's over a year then the fee is $119 to have the touch screen replaced.

This may sound very odd, but give it a try. My early version 720 would not calibrate for many months, making the touchscreen useless in the lower corners. So in conversation with Ed at AP, he sent me new firmware, to no avail. So I sent him the device, with instruction to replace the layer. After he receives the unit, he powers it up and leaves for the weekend (if those guys even take one) and when he returns it goes thru the calibration routine just fine! And he keeps the unit for a few days to verify that it will repeat it, and it does. So he sends it back to me working perfectly (saving me $119).
My 720 is mounted on my panel vertically (obviously). If it is laid flat (horizontal) while it is powered up for an extended period of time, it is able to be calibrated once again. Since I have had the device back, I have had the same problem, so I powered it up overnight, and lo and behold, everything is fine again (this was just 2 weeks ago).
Now I am an electronics engineer, and I haven't a clue what's happening to the touch layer, but it has something to do with the heat generated. Coincidence maybe. Like I said this sounds odd, but I know that many units have had calibration problems. Give it a try anyway. And thanks, Ed.

Thanks Walter, Ed and Greg for the support. Plugging my 720 directly into my AC charger instead of the I-fly battery didn't help but Greg/Ed's suggestion of keeping the unit on overnight worked. A little balky but a few taps of a stylus then initiated the full update. I then checked the option buttons on the left edge of the flight plan page as they had also been intermittent. They still did not work. Next I went to setup and recalibrated the screen. It took a number of taps to get the center cross hair to respond but then the 4 corner cross hairs responded in one cycle allowing me to reset the alignment. After this the option buttons worked with a finger tap as did the update button. Perhaps my touch screen is on its last legs but time will tell. Thanks again.
