Hi everyone,

Yesterday I encountered a problem during a flight with my screen going out of calibration, specifically as I was on the Flight Planning screen but they were off on other screens as well. It seemed like all of my buttons were off on the low side. For example, I couldn't find a touch point on the buttons at the bottom except the Done key and that took some doing.

Why this is a mystery is because I had just calibrated the screen a day or so prior to the flight and those same buttons were working properly before I took off because I loaded my flight plan using them. So it seems like something happened during an hour or so of flight to cause this to happen. It was quite frustrating to say the least.

I'm just wondering what might have caused it to go out of wack. It was warm in the cockpit, but not overly so, and I have an old plane that vibrates. Those were the only things I can think of. Any other thoughts?

Tom,

There are 3 common things that can cause calibration issues:

1) "Dirty power", eg: low current/voltage, or a "flickering" plug. Make sure your connections are good.

2) Constant pressure on the screen can cause a temporary warp in the touchscreen layer. Such as storing it in a case with something pressing on the screen. If you calibrate the screen while it's still distorted, as it "settles" later you will need to calibrate it again. If you think you're seeing a touch screen issue because of this, turn the unit face-down on a table overnight.

3) If it's consistenly losing calibration and you've ruled out 1 & 2, your touch screen layer may need to be repaired. If you send it to our shop we can diagnose the issue, if it needs to be replaced we can do this for $119.

Thanks,
Walter
