George,
I can hear the frustration in your post, sorry about that. When entering an airport in to the search or flight plan, if you put the K in front of the EXX or FAA, like KEXX, it knows that is an airport. The iFly will build the multi-leg plan from that. If you leave the K off, then the iFly will look and populate close items like Fixes, VORs as some pilots may not remember the entire fix identifier, or you can pull up a list of close matches. For example, do a identifier serach for LNC, there is an Airport and a NDB naviad. By simply putting the official K in front "KLNC", we know you mean the airport. In the list, you will see "type" on the far left side, this should show you if you are looking at a airport, fix or such. Also, keep in mind we have some international databases in the iFly as well, and the "K" for US and "C" or Canada or "M" for Mexico is needed to.
If you wanted to fly direct from Davidson County to Kill Devil Hills, then the easiest way would be to type this into the seach, KEXX KFFA. The K is needed because officially denotes the airport and not a Navaid like explained above. The seach is great for if you don't know the identifier. By typing in the exact FAA identifier, you bypass any search as it knows that the airport or VOR is what you mean.
Also, the Previous Search option is for search results since the unit was powered on, it clears upon reboot. We are looking at adding a Favorites or retaining the last set number of searches. The concept here is you normally would search for an airport, likely not having an identifier, research it and then add it to the plan. It would be in the previous search list. As indicated in the first section of this post, if you know the identifiers, just enter the complete identifier "with the K" and include a space between each waypoint. This is a single string entry and if much faster if you know the identifiers.
Sorry for the long post here, but I just want to explain in in detail for you. If you see something you'd like to make a suggestion on, please let us know. We can add it to our Wish-List. I hope this helps.
