iFly (on tablets) gets its weather from two possible sources: When on the ground and connected to the Internet, it gets its weather data from the Internet. When in the air and connected to an ADSB-in receiver, it can receive the weather data that the FAA broadcasts through the ADSB ground tower network.
Quite often, the ramp environment at the airport where you start up the plane is a dead zone where neither wi-fi (for Internet) nor ADSB-in reception is available. (If your tablet has cell network coverage, then you ought to be able to get Internet-based weather on the ramp, but most tablets don't have that capability.)
So: What tablet are you using? What ADSB-in receiver are you using? At which airport are you trying to get weather data on the ground? Have you confirmed that you have either a solid Internet connection or a good ADSB-in signal on your ADSB receiver when you're trying to get the weather data?
And when you say that "iFly stated it was perfectly clear", exactly what iFly data are you looking at? (I.e., are you looking at the METAR for the airport you're sitting at, or what?)
