Alternative suggestion - I am using a Huawei MediaPad M3 8.4 in my RV8, in a RAM X-mount on the right side of the panel, and am extremely pleased with the device. Good size for the smaller cockpit. Excellent screen resolution and decent brightness for daylight operation. GPS and accel/gyro both work great. Does not have a barometric sensor. Good response (octa-core processor and good GPU). No issues with turning off in flight. (I also cover it with a cloth when leaving the plane on the ramp in the AZ sunshine.) Good battery life running EFB (maybe 2.5 hours? using internal GPS, with WiFi to ABS-B, Bluetooth turned off, at max brightness), but I now use a panel power adapter. Runs Android 7.0 and comes with minimal bloat-ware. It's a 2016 design and therefore is available at reasonable prices. Do NOT get the "Lite" version!
The newer M5 version uses a different proprietary chipset and runs Android 8.0, but is very similar otherwise. I haven't used one, but would expect a similar good experience. Priced a bit higher than the M3, of course, but still in the $325 range w/64GB of storage. They do make a larger, 10" version, but again I haven't used one.
