Sure sounds like the stratux SD car got corrupted, most probably by killing power to it without a graceful shutdown.  If that is what happened, you will have to reflash the current card or buy a new one with it already on it.  However, without a graceful shutdown, it will just happen again.  And again.

Tim, Jeff, Skypuppy,

Thanks - indeed, it looks like the card is corrupted!

Talked to Chris at Ifly and he is offering to send me a new card.

Once I get it, do I then need to disassemble the device to install it or can the card be removed and replaced without taking it apart?

I can see what looks like a card but do not want to tug on it or damage the device in any way without knowing for sure or having some type directions.

Many of you have built your own systems, but I simply purchased the one on Ifly and have been using it for a couple of months.

Gents, for future reference, is there anything that I might have done to cause this damage to the card?  Again, it was working OK during a flight - I landed, went to start up again for the next leg of a X-C, and that is when the problem started.

So, for future reference, is there any particular way to shut-down, to store, or to care for the STRATUX other than normal care as we would any other electronic device?

Thanks Gents, your advice here has already helped me in this and other areas of Ifly and Stratux operations.

Regards, Mike Marra in Carlisle, PA

Steady green and red lights, but no wifi signal to my device...

Before you remove power from the stratux, open a window to if from your tablet and go to this web address: 192.168.10.1.  Then, choose the "settings" page.  On the bottom right, you'll see the option to "shutdown."  Choose that, wait 3 or 4 seconds, then you can remove power to it without harm.

For advanced Linux users:

Alternatively, you can create two different partitions on the SD card and set the first as read only.  Then, store all your logs and such on the writeable partition.  If a power-off occurs without graceful shutdown, you only lose your logs and not the stratux functionality.

Skypuppy,

Many thanks on the "shutdown procedures." I never knew that.

I've been flying with the STRATUX for 2 months and had no idea that is what you are supposed to do - will start doing that right away.

Amazing that bit of advice is not in any directions or advice anywhere...I was just shutting it down, and my STRATUX is tied into ship's power via the adaptor (no battery).

I wonder how many other devicdes are ruined in this manner by simply not knowing?

Again, thanks - I will put this advice to use as soon as I get the device up and running again.

Regards, Mike

Being a real computer, and Linux (UNIX clone) based, it is SOP for that world.  Discussions underway now to eliminate this problem.  Hang with us, Mike.
