I'm going to be without a medical for about six months. My Android iFly subscription renewal date is IIRC at the end of April. My plan was to simply not renew and, for the little I will need them, use the charts that I have already bought and paid for until I get my medical back.
However, I now get a warning with the app magnanimously offering to run for five minutes as some kind of "trial." It is difficult for me to see how this benefits Adventure Pilot. As a repeat subscriber and booster for the app, it leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and it certaintly doesn't motivate me to re-up a subscription that I don't need. For users who no longer want to run the app, I think it has the same effect. I guess there is the possiblity of a few parasitic users who would run the app with old charts for a few months as an economy measure but eventually they will have to re-up, at which point an annual subscription makes sense due to the high price of a one-shot. (Incidentally I think the one-shot pricing is sensible as a means to motivate subscriptions.)
So ... despite being a loyalist and booster, I am feeling qutie grumpy about not being able to use charts that I have bought and paid for.
