what autopilots are compatible with the 740b?

TruTrak, for sure --- probably Trio, and maybe some of the proprietary ones like Dynon, Garmin or GRT.

I have used a 740 to control the Trio ProPilot for a few years now. I have them installed in my Piper Warrior.  Works amazingly well.
