When I view Nexrad images on my iFly 740 that are downloaded on wifi, they appear in the standard green yellow red format.  But, when these images come from my ADSB in receiver, the red and green seem normal but the red is displayed as pink instead.  This is the case on multiple ADSB in receivers.  Any ideas why this is so?

The downloaded weather comes straight from NOAA, which is also the source for the ADSB nexrad.  In both cases, we're not downloading images, just data that is rendered as an image - the color is based on a "return strength" value for a given area.  The "areas" for ADSB weather is much larger, so they must combine several "areas" into one, and I'm not sure what rules they are using to make this combination, but it will result in the images looking slighty different.

A follow-up question. Why do the returns in the IFlyGPS apps seem significantly blockier than in other EFB apps?

This has been discussed before, so if you search you may find some lenghty threads on the topic.  But a short summary is:  The data you see on iFly is pretty much exactly what the FAA is broadcasting.  It's blocky because the broadacsts have limited bandwidth.

Other EFBs "massage" the data to make it look smoother/prettier.  They're not making the data any better, they're just making you think it is.  However, that takes processing power.  iFly is designed to run on a broad range of hardware platforms, and AP is trying to maintain support for many relatively old hardware platforms and new-but-inexpensive platforms that may have limited processing capability compared to modern and/or high-end gear.  To maintain good performance on those less-capabile platforms, the software does minimal processing on the data before it's presented to the user.

Thanks. I didn’t think it was any different in terms of the data source. Just a bit easier on the heys.
