I went to the Stratus ESG website. I apprears to me that it does 1090 out but you have to get another box to do the IN. Is my understanding correct? If so, then I'll stay with my 345 decision.

You are correct, the Stratus ESG does not offer ADSB in. I guess that I assumed that you already had ADSB in.

C177RG: iFly 720, Stratux 978/1090 ADS-B in, AHRS, BMP, Stratus ESG ADS-B out. RV-3: 8" Samsung Tab A, Stratux 978/1090 ADS-B in, AHRS, BMP, Stratus ESG ADS-B out.

Don't forget that the King KT-74 is an inexpensive alternative if you have a WAAS GPS already installed. The KT-74 is ADS-B OUT only. The KT-74 is a slide in replacement for the other King transponders, and a relatively easy install for the Garmin 327 transponder.
