I have always loved using WAC charts when flying outside my local area. I admit, I have not purchased one since owning the iFly, but now with the latest upgrade that automatically toggles between Terminal, Sectional, and WAC I love the de-clutter and being able to read the airport names when zoomed out. So now I read that the WAC charts have been cut. http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/FAA-To-Cut-Airport-Advisories-WACs-224366-1.html What is the iFly team's take on this?

Could it be just the printed hard copy they are discontinuing, and the software version will still be available?

The FAA notice specificallly says: "World Aeronautical Chart Discontinuance The following charts will cease to be printed beyond 17 SEP 2015:.....".

That doesn't answer the question if they will be available electronically. I doubt it.

"ACTION: Upon obsolescence as published on each respective World Aeronautical Chart, cease use for navigation; where applicable, obtain latest Sectional Aeronautical and/or U.S. VFR Terminal Area Charts as necessary."

They are discontinuing them entirely, paper and electronic. We will of course accomodate the iFly app for this change. The biggest impact will be for our Caribbean coverage - but the high-resolution land data we added last year to Vector Mode will help, and we'll be adding more data to that view in coming releases.

Thanks,
Walter
