John & Roger, sometime last year we noticed that some Navworx devices had a very high CRC error when connected with WIFI. (A CRC error basically means a package of information was lost). To check this on your device, go to Menu / About / Connected Devices, and while data is coming in make note of the CRC Error rate in this dialog - it should be less than 2%.

If you are seeing a high percent here, I suggest you contact Navworx and see if they can update your Firmware.

Thanks,
Walter

Walter:

I have seen the CRC (Character Redunduncy Rate?) seem very high.

I spoke with Bill and navworx and we are going to download a later revision into my 600 EXP unit that is supposed to seek out the cleanest WiFi channel.

News at eleven...

CRC errors jump around an go over 2% quite often.

Other than the "out of Range" issue when I have 4-5 towers I believe IFLY is not my issue with "no Heartbeat " issues.

I updated my software version as Bill from Navworx suggesteed. He said the new software will detect wifi interference and change automatically to another channel. That did not happen today when I was descending on a 45 over the heavily populated town of Corona and I could see many wifi signals popping up on channel 1.

They were not as strong, but I got a disconnect even though I had a strong signal from Navworx.

I would really like to be able to change channels manually.

My friend uses Navworx on both IFLY via wifi and to his panel using RS232. He could see the wifi drop, but not the RS232.

Bottom line: Unless Navworx comes up with a way for us to change channels I am stuck with intermittent disconnects.

I have (2) iFly 740s in my RV-6A, connected (WiFi) to a Navworx EXP, which is mounted behind my baggage bulkhead. I have the external 978 UAT antenna, on the bottom of the aircraft, and a Garmin 56 GPS antenna on the top of the aircraft, connected to the Navworx. I also have an ipad with a couple of EFBs, which I have as a backup, but rarely turn it on. I have not installed the latest Navworx software update, and probably will not.

I fly nearly every day, either local 20-30 minute "yank and bank" flights, some longer IFR practice, or occasional cross countries. To date, I have not had any issue with drop-outs from either the iFly 740 or the Navworx box. I do have the Navworx "UAT-FAIL" light hooked up on my panel and have seen it blink for a second or two on a couple of occasions, but it has not been an issue.

(I purchased the second iFly 740 when the iPad became so unreliable with lockups and overheating shutdowns -- not good when using the charts/approach plates IFR!)
