I think this is somewhat of a moot point. IFly GPS is not legal for IFR flight and VFR flight rules still pertain. There are acknowledgements of this that we all agree to when we use this app.

My sentiments exactly. The iFly helps provide situational awareness for VFR pilots. Our primary source of information is derived by looking outside.

Yup. And nobody ever scud runs, nobody ever gets forced down because of lowering ceilings, nobody ever gets near DA or MDA and wants to use the app for "situational awareness", and no slimeball PI attorney will ever sue AdventurePilot after his client's hubby has been killed while carrying an iFly device or app in the airplane. Isn't it nice to be living in a perfect world?

If that's the concern, all these apps need to be pulled from the market and we can go back to paper sectionals.

Apparently AGL altitude is the coming thing. I just ran across the Wingx "Passive Radar Altimeter" !!?! Well, it's passive but it's certainly not radar! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x8fh0x4_1g
