Brolin...

Does the break board do anything else but taking the RX TX GND from the usb chip and pass it to the screw connection????

or it has a role like a null modem.

I have tried multiple SILABS and FTDI USB with wired as opposed to a DB9 and connected the TX to the AP input

and GND to GND.  the 740b is seeing the USB and now with the 11.1.7 I'm seeing more stuff coming out from NMEA

but there seems to be no handshake being done.

The only difference in your setup and mine is that you are referring to the breakout board and I'm going wire to wire?????

Regards

I have downloaded the Beta version successfully and when I look at the NEMA input controller the message without the USB to RS 232 cable plugged in is Sending to Com port 9600,Total MSGs,AVG MSGS etc. When I plug the cable in the messages are the same but with the added NEMA sentences I had selected in the set up section. This is with the cable still not connected to the Autopilot. When I connect it to the Autopilot it still does not see the NEMA data nor does the Dynon D10A. I have cycled it on and off as suggested by some of the forum memebers. No difference.

Mike....  someone on the Facebook forum just informed that he used the Dynon cable for updating his device and that it now works....

FTDI will work, and you just need to make sure pin 3 is transmit, pin 5 is ground. We do not receive data.
