How do I make the IFly get out of the close range of takeoff to a normal range without manually keep pushing the + ten or so times?

If you have the Auto-Taxi feature enabled, it will zoom into the airport during taxi, upon takeoff it should zoom back out to the previous zoom level.  Are you seeing different behavior than this?

Walter, thanks for the reply.  The screen will stay on the airport (very short range) after lift off unless I manually hit the - (minus) numerous times.  I typeed in the + (plus) in my first question which was wrong.

I would check that you have the right aircraft profile selected and that the climb & cruise speeds in that profile are close to what you're really flying.  Because my guess is that the iFly code is checking your GPS-reported ground speed against the profile to determine if you're airborne (and therefore being the time to automatically change the map scale -- which is what you're saying it's not doing, if I read your posts correctly).

Try turning off/on the Auto Taxi feature (Menu -> Setup -> Map Settings -> Enable Auto Taxi).  When you turn it back on, select the "use default" option.
