Greetings iFly Owners,
Good News! The Version 6 Software Update is now in beta testing. We are only weeks away from the Version 6 Software Update. Highlighted features include Geo-Referenced Approach Plates & Airport Diagrams, ADS-B Weather & Traffic compatibility with 3rd party receivers and other performance and UI enchancements. We will post additional details on the supported ADS-B receivers shortly. As always, this software update process is a simple user download from iFlyGPS.com.
New features were well received at our Oshkosh beta demonstrations. It was great to see so many iFly owners and fellow pilots there. We thank you all for your continued business and support of the iFly GPS. Below is a brief run-down of the Version 6 Update highlights. Enjoy!
"Let the Adventure Begin! iFly GPS".
Version 6 Software Highlights:
Geo-Referenced Approach Plates and Airport Diagrams:
You will now see your route line, airplane location, flight path, etc on the Approach Plates and Airport Diagrams. A context menu will also be available to modify the flight plan, etc, just like you do in any other map mode. You will also see all your instruments when in Plates & Diagrams Mode. When viewing non-georeferenced plates (such as Departures, STARS, Minimums, etc) you will still see your instruments - just no access to location or flight path data. We have also improved the options and performance for quickly accessing the plate you're looking for.
ADS-B Weather & Traffic:
We've added support for ADSB weather and traffic services. Currently we support the Sky Radar: http://www.skyradar.net/ and we're adding support for NavWorx. In addition, there are new weather features for owners who don't have an ADS-B receiver on board. You will now be able to download TAFs and Winds Aloft as well as METAR data in the update process. The "METAR Mode" will be replaced with "Weather Mode". Touch anywhere on the screen and instantly pop a weather report based on data closest to your touch point. Then select METAR, TAF or Winds Aloft as you wish. If you have an ADSB receiver attached, this data will automatically be updated while in flight, and NexRad radar will be overlaid onto the map in this mode. Traffic Alerts are also supported if you have an ADS-B receiver supporting traffic or an ADS-B Transceiver.
Additional UI Enchancements:
- Added Private Airports to the Vector Mode.
- Re-organized "Possible Actions" menu:
- Added "More Options" -
- Moved "Remove this waypoint", "Show Extended Runway", "Drop Marker Here", "Add Custom Location", and "Weather Information" to the sub menu.
- Moved "Instrument Mode" to Setup Menu.
- Added "Direct to this Waypoint" in the options menu in the Flight Plan page.
- Repositioned the "Reverse" button on the Flight Plan page to help eliminate accidental touch when pressing Flight Plan from the Map Page.
- and many more.
Blue Skies,
The Adventure Pilot Team
