Reading a thread here I got interested in the Ping Buddy. At the reported price of under $100 for some ADS-B functionality sounds like a no-brainer "buy" decision.
Several reviewers reported purchasing at Adventure Pilot (My first choice), but I don't see it in the Adventure Pilot store. And on Amazon it's listed as not-currently-available..
......................edit........................
After posting the above I directly contacted uAvionix, who made Ping Buddy. I talked to Shane there (who used to be at Adventure Pilot) and got the following info (assuming I didn't misunderstand):
They stopped making Ping Buddy a while ago. No great conspiracy reasons as far as I can tell... seems to have been a business decision. The spin off evolved version they partnered with ForeFlight on and does not work with iFly.
He indicated they do make a similar, but wired, version of Ping Buddy _specifically_ made for and sold by Adventure Pilot called "ping for iFly Ads B" or something very similar name and that I should be able to see it in the Adventure Pilot store. So far not, but I'll call.
Also mentioned for In and out that would be 2020 complient for an experimental "EchoUAT" which connects via wifi and, if I understood him, would work with iFly 700 series.
Any idea what's the story?
