While using iFly Connect to update an SD card, my Windows 10 crashes when updating from the 12/8/16 to 1-5-17 Aviation Databases. All other items upload without a problem. What am I doing wrong?

I just did an update for my 740 and the Aviation Databases, same dates, updated fine with my Windows 10 Asus 2n1 10" tablet. If you're still having problems, try copying the entire contents of the SD card to a folder on your Windows computer, and copy it back onto a different, freshly formatted SD card. It's possible that your current card has a bad spot or that particular file is corrupted and cannot be accessed/deleted/overwritten. If you don't have another card available (I use a 32G card), you can try reformatting your existing card after you copy it to the Windows computer. It's not a boot disk so a simple copy works fine. This is also a good way to have a backup card with you, if you're so inclined. The only thing that won't work if you copy to another card is the Streets GPS driving software (it is "married" to the serial number of the card it came on).

This does sound like your SD card is going bad. Jeff's solution would confirm that - but only do this if you don't have iFly Streets - that product cannot be moved to a new card.

If you want to take the easy road, we have a procedure called Update-by-Mail, if you go this route we will update your card for you, and if it has any physical problems we will automatically replace the card.
