Spec shows this, which to my untrained eye seems to indicate that it has an electronic gyro component. Big plus if that's accurate.

The discussion over heading source appears to be about picking one method/source. The majority of the discussion surrounding accuracy, correction and errors. All five or six options could be user select-able. Pick the two or three most likely and implement for testing as user select-able options. Or could just wait until everyone agrees on a best method.

It's a $40 chip run by a $35 computer that'll need thousands of $$ of free coding to be a stable VFR Artificial Horizon on a par with the offerings from Stratus and SkyRadar. I'd love to see it developed to that degree, but I suspect it'll end up being a laggy, error-prone display that only the free EFB's will support. Having said that, I've included one in my build and it works well on the Stratux web page.

FYI - I mounted a 978 Delta POP blade antenna on an inspection plate on the belly of our plane and connected it to the RPi receiver - wow, what a difference a proper antenna makes! I'm consistantly recieving traffic and weather onw where I used to have to have the antenna on the side towards the towers.

I don't have a few thousand $$ to spend on a 3D printer so I tried my hand at bending $2 worth of plexiglas. This is a dual band AHRS/GPS Stratux. Power is supplied via 12-28v power outlet, which becomes 5v 3a once inside. The USB hub is powered seperately from the Pi via a relay so that the Pi itself isn't overloaded. A Mausberry Circuits switch allows the Pi to be powered up with the press of the red momentary switch, and a second press of the switch sends a shutdown command. The RJ-45 jack allows the optional AHRS/GPS to be placed in view of the sky and connected via a CAT5 cable. The antennas can also be remotely mounted via cables. The box will sit on the hatrack so solar heat wont be an issue with the clear box, but I'm thinking about using dark window tint for portability. I was surprised how easy it was to bend the plexiglas. A Harbor Freight heat gun and a wooden block cut to size was all I needed.

Looks good. What USB hub are you using? Thanks.
