Thanks Mark. Is that all the files on the SD card or just certain ones? If it's not all of them, I guess I'll have to ask you which ones not to delete when the time comes.

I'll buy 2 of them. Right now, I'm thinking a bag of some sort is the way to go. Keep everything in bag and lay it on the floor or seat of the airplane. Just remove the antenna's and place them on the glare shield. That way, the sun is not beating down on the Raspberry.

For writing an image, I use the free Win32 Disk Imager utility on a Windows computer. Nothing needs to be done to the disk beforehand, because by design the image is written bit by bit instead of file by file, and effectively wipes the disk as it goes.

Thanks, but please help me understand a little better. When I received my kit, the SD card already had NOOBS and some other files on it. I downloaded the Stratux image file and wrote it to the SD card using Win 32 Disk Imager. Did that process delete all of the flies previously on the SD card? If so, why were they there to start with? So, if I ever need to update the Stratux image can I simply repeat the process on top of what is already on the SD card? Thanks.

Correct. NOOBS is one of many variants of Linux that will run on a Pi. You overwrote NOOBS with Debian, another popular variant that the developers chose to develop Stratux with. If you learn to SSH into the Pi (which is not a requirement to use Stratux), you'll see that there are a LOT more Linux files on that disk, written in another partition, that the Windows computer doesnt/cannot see. That's also where you'll find the log files and other system files.

Also realize that any customizations are lost with each new image copy.
