I have had 3 devices connected simultaneously to my Stratux. One android phone, one adndroid tablet and 1 ipad. All worked flawlessly together. I have used the dual antenna setup with the beta 3 version and latest stable version. Have had Great luck with writing the image and making no other changes or commands for full function. Total of about 10 minutes from opening the box of parts (kit) to a working device. I have noted there are about 4 or 5 devices you can choose from the "about" "connected devices" menu that will work. At first I didnt'think traffic was working but changing the "setup" "alerts" "traffic alerts" defaults from 15nm to unlimited and altitude from 2500 to unlimited let me see traffic that was not previously close enough to show up on my screen. I have noted that using dual antennas works great but if you only use one usb dongle R820T I can only receive 978 and not 1090 regardless of on/off settings on the Stratux page (browser pointed to 192.168.10.1 after connecting to stratux wifi). With two antennas I can choose to monitor either or both with success. It also works with the avare as a backup app but you must install and open (1st) the avare external I/O app and listen to stratux device. After using 4 or 5 android apps over the past few years I could never imagine using anything other than the I-fly app as they have done a great job of making it easy and full of features and at a great price. Who would ever have imagined a few years ago we could have traffic, updated metars/weather, and radar on a moving map with full planning features for $70/yr.

I too have flown a bunch of hours with a dual band Stratux alongside the dual band SkyRadar DX, and for something that hasn't even reached version 1 release its very impressive. The only issue I've had is frequent wifi drops. Further investigation revealed it was my own fault. I was starving the pi for power with a less-than-quality USB cable. I switched to the thickest cable I had, and the connection remained steady. HINT: if the red light on the pi blinks sporadically, it needs more power. And the power requirements will only go up when I add the GPS/AHRS board. Also, the antenna wire connectors are fragile and I pulled an end off one cable from the constant plugging/unplugging into the radio.

I hope to solve these issues by adding a buck converter that will allow me to supply 5v to the pi from a 12v-24v cigarette lighter. With the pi, 2 radios, AHRS chip, and buck converter there's gonna be some heat output, so I'll also add a switched 5v fan to ventilate The case (eventually controlled by the pi itself). The antenna issue will be solved With SMA connectors on the case that will accept the popular SMA antennas. This will let me use small antennas plugged directly into the case for better portability, or antennas with cables to reach the Windows for better reception. Obviously it's no longer a $70 solution, but for someone who enjoys DIY projects it's an economical and reliable alternative to the current commercial ADS-B solutions.

Hi Dwayne,

That is awesome to hear. We are thrilled to hear your excitement and enthusiasm for the iFly GPS App and your ADS-B solution. Please pass the word on to your fellow pilots. Also, just to let you know, we plan to add the "Stratux" option to the list of WiFi Connected Devices. Stay tuned and keep spreading the good news of iFly GPS. We can't thank you enough.

I am building four of these now but have not yet tested them with IFly. Does the AHRS chip in the Stratux work with IFly?

I tried the ILevel AHRS setting with no luck. Shane says that they are looking at adding a Stratux selection, but I don't know if that will include AHRS (which is still under developement by Stratux, and from what I gather not ready for prime time.)
