I just edited /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf and successfully changed the SSID and frequency channel. I'm still a newby with linux and further handicapped with having to SSH into the pi with an Android tablet instead of a real computer and keyboard. Two helpful apps I've found so far are JuiceSSH and Raspi Check.

Hopefully, the devs will put the conf stuff in the web portal so that users don't have to be experts with Linux.

Starting with stratux version 0.3bX I've had to disable my Android firewall on the first handshake to get connectivity with iFly. Specifically, it's working now with v0.3b4 with my Firewall enabled, but I have to allow the kernel to have access thru the firewall for the stratux to send heartbearts. but when 0.3b5 comes out, I'll have to disable the Firewall to let iFly talk to the stratux for the first time. Once that's done, I can enable the firewall and the connection survives across reboots. I expect firewall blocking was my problem when I tried v0.3b2, above.

A dumb question: Are there any technical problems with letting the Stratux send wi-fi data to more than one tablet at a time? (Collisions?) Since I just learned that my tablet has to handshake with the Stratux (because I have to lower my Firewall shield initially to establish a secure connection), it seems there's some back and forth going on here. I would like to have the Stratux feed iFly and Avare at the same time (the latter for dedicated plates in portrait) in-flight.

P.S. I tried running both at the same time and it seems to work okay. But I could be doing something stupid anyway. Do I have to wait for multi-casting?

I saw in one of the config files or forums that stratux can allocate (I think) 10 IP addresses via DHCP. I have had a phone, a tablet, and the 740 connected simultaneously with no issues. My SkyRadar supports multiple clients, as did my previous SkyRadar. So it should be no issue.

HOWEVER - my tablet drops connection with the stratus occasionally, but it also drops with other routers so I believe its a tablet issue. I have Googled for the firewall settings as you describe, but my tablet doesn't have a "Firewall" option under Security like The Google describes. How old is your tablet? All the firewall hits I've seen are old, so I'm wondering if the setting has been removed from the current Android releases. Or perhaps you're running a firewall app or antivirus. Mine is bone stock firmware, 5.0.2.

Hi Jeff:

Thanks for the info about multiple DHCP's. Actually, I hadn't thought it thru that far. I assumed that everyone used the same IP. Guess that won't work from a Link Layer point of view.

About the firewall - I'm rooted running a root firewall. Cuts down on an awful lot of phoning home. It keeps logs of what was blocked. So I can see that stratux now wants to talk to the kernel.
