Quick question about the flight planning feature of the iFly. I notice when I build a flight plan that it does not take into account the winds along my route for total time enroute. I get a no winds ete. The difference can be significant depending on the winds enough that if I filed the iFly times I would have SAR looking for me.

Is there something I am missing in the options?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

You are not missing anything. We have a feature being developed that will help automatically tune your plan based on winds aloft, it's just not quite ready yet. Currently, if your device has current wx data, you can view the FAA reported winds aloft, but their stations are pretty spread apart. The feature we're working on is downloading very high res NOAA winds aloft data so the results will be much more accurate than systems based on FAA data. We're also capturing the forecast so you can pick your departure time, up to 36 hrs out, and the altitude suggestions will be targed for that time. (of couse you can tweak it just before flight!)

Thanks,
Walter

Walter,

Thanks for the info! I found the wind data and weather reports. Looking forward to flight plan integration with the winds aloft. That will be a huge benefit to myself and I'm sure others as well.

Thank you!
