I hear you, OldPilot. Guess I'm old school too. I mean, who could imagine having a machine that would show your exact position on a sectional only 15 years ago! What else could you possibly want? I'd like a choice to choose the feathers that are loaded onto my devise/tablet. I think I would only get the basic GPS feathers, the route line drawing/direction and distance measuring feathers, the airport information feather, and the weather overlay feather. It seems to me that if only a simple VFR package were offered, it would cut out a lot of the hard to find menus making the app very simple to use. Of course I understand that AP has a lot of pilots that need and use more information than just the basics. But for us old pilots who remember the days when you would just grab a sectional and hop in your plane and go, well, that's basically the way we still fly. It's just very nice to have all up to date sections for the whole USA in one little package like a tablet.

But if this doesn't fit Walter's and his team's business model, I'll understand. The iFly GPS is still the best thing for general aviation since I've been around.

Not sure what you're asking for, OldPilot. If you think iFly is good enough as-is, then it seems like you could simply choose to stay at the current software version and be content. The rest of the world can add features as they wish, without bother to you.

But I see posts on here where you are yourself asking for additional features (split screen, for example).

So all I see here is "different strokes for different folks".

To-date, Walter and co. have done a pretty good job of looking into the crystal ball and trying to predict which features and capabilities would yield the most bang-for-the-buck in terms of keeping existing customers and attracting new ones. I trust they'll continue to do so, even if they can't please 100% of the folks 100% of the time.

Fortunately it doesn't take a crystal ball. Between an active user group and the fact that most of the functions being requested have a history in other apps, it takes a bit of legwork and research more than it does crystal balls and seances.
