I'm thinking of jumping in to the ADS-B world with the SkyGuardTWX Vision-Pro ADS-B Transceiver, but am not sure whether to get the 978/1090ES or the 978 ADS-B Transceiver w/ AHRS version. The rest of my panel is mostly original (1957), so the AHRS is appealing as a back-up to the old gyros. However, will I miss the 1090ES in VFR, below 10,000' flights?

What have other bought and why?

Thanks,

Don

Don,

My understanding is that both frequencies provide the same information. So, you won't miss anyting by going with the AHRS and 978. A friend has that unit and he happy with it. I've had the non-AHRS unit for about six months and I am , also. happy with my choice. I did not need the AHRS so I kept $400 to use for something else. So, in my opinion, there is no bad choice for you, just depends on whether you need/want AHRS.

Thanks Bob and Jim. I think I'll go with the AHRS then.
