Robert,
You received the press release as part of our Media release since you are the president of both flying clubs. It has a release date of 7/26, tomorrow, but a little leak won't hurt, I guess.
The iFly 520 is a little brother to the iFly 720. It does have a internal battery and the same screen as the 720 for improved sunlight readability. It has the same simple updating using iFly Connect and includes a SD Card Adapter, however it does not support Wi-Fi. It will not support ADS-B via Wi-Fi, though Walter is currently working on ADS-B support via hardwire devices. More details will be coming shortly and we will be introducing it at AirVenture 2013.
You hit the target right on the money, the iFly 520 is targeting the non-electric, smaller cubs, champs, LSA, etc along with those just looking for a truly portable backup GPS. For an iPad/ForeFlight or other App Guru, the iFly 520 would make a perfect "Redundant GPS" or "Flight Bag Back-Up" sould they experience the "inevitable iPad Glare or Overheating" With an Introductory price of only $399, our only other "dedicated aviation" competition is the Garmin Aera 500 at $300-400 more and they still don't support Wi-Fi, ADS-B or Sectional Charts.
