Also, would like to set up the extended battery on the back of the dock for my panel. If I hook up a direct 12v line to my bus, then to the battery then to the GPS....will that work that way to use the battery as a backup if the 12v goes out for some reason? Can I leave the battery on all the time? Won't that keep the GPS powered? I guess I would have to pull the GPS out of the dock and turn the battery on if needed? If it is off then no power to the GPS even when the 12v is on?
HMMMMMMM

Thanks for the reply Ed. Can you suggest a way to hook up everything so that it would be most convienent using the battery as a back-up? I will be installing a permanent 12v hook up to my panel. I just want the battery as a just in case.
Thanks!

My thought is: Any scheme you can come up with that leaves the switch on the battery easily accessible. You'll want to switch the battery off in-between flights.

It would be better if the scheme allowed the battery to be easily removed, so that if you didn't fly for a while, you could remove the battery and recharge it prior to the next flight.
