I don't get to big airports that often...

....but when I do, I really appreciate the fact IFly has the geo-referenced airport diagrams and photographs of them so I don't get LOST on the ground.

Before you laugh, how many have been taxiing around Dulles, Baltimore-Washington or any of the New York Airports?

They can be complicated!

In many cases, the ground taxi clearance is as complicated as a IFR departure clearance or STAR arrival clearance with modifications...THANKS iFly!

Mike, indeed, we are infested with deer, groundhogs, rabbits, all kinds of birds, and get this....even Black Bear at our airport! (A friend of mine made the papers taking photos of a black bear near his hangar.)

Landing at night is high-adventure here...the management asks us to consider a low-pass to scare off the wildlife...so we do.  Not much more they can do about it as we are near the mountains and open plains in central Pa.

I did have a close call last year where a deer similar to this one (in the photo), only the one I almost hit had what looked like 6-8 points on it.  The buck ran across the runway right-to-left of me as I had already flared and the mains were on the runway, but not the nosewheel yet...not much I could do at that point except watch it happen....just barely missed the deer as it passed in front of my prop arc by mere feet (felt like inches to me).

It's something we dread around here...and try to land before sunset when possible.

Mike N714AJ in Carlisle, PA (near rural areas of our state)
