It might be worthwhile to add a "start turn/stop turn" button to the simulator controls. It could be depicted as an arrow pointed left and one pointed right. When clicked, the simulator would begin a turn of 3 degrees per second (standard rate turn) in the direction of the arrow and the arrow would turn red. When clicked a second time, the turn would stop and the arrow would return to black.

I have asked for this in the past, but it got no traction.

I just want this. Keep it simple.

So maybe this would be a simple enough change ...

1. Keep this part the same...

Press and hold either track button - Simulator acts the way it does now

Bank and rate depend on how long you hold it

When you let go it rolls itself back to wings level

2. And add this tiny change...

Tap Track Left - get a Standard rate turn to the left

Then tap Track Right - roll out of the turn

Any solution that gives the simulator a standard rate turn would be helpful. I was simulating an approach and wanted to know how iFly would assist me with the missed approach. This one included a holding pattern which I cobbled together by adding a custom waypoint or two.

The simulated race track was not really possible to do as the turn buttons are non-linear.  That is, a short tap applies a fraction of a degree turn, while holding it longer rapidly accelerates  to well beyond 3 degrees per second.

Perhaps the simplest fix would be a single setup parameter that forces all turns to 3 degrees per sec.  For those of us wanting to get a high level of familiarity with the app as an IFR situational awareness tool should be happy enough with that simple option.

I agree. Why would we need anything other than a standard rate turn right and left?
