I don't see me needing this. But if iFly implemented it, I would be concerned about screen sensitivity and false touches. Already the screen is too fast and responsive for my aging hands and iFly often pops up a QV Window when I just brush the screen. (I've asked for a debounce timer, but iFly wants to keep the app feeling fast.) So, if this idea were implemented, it should be done so that the screen doesn't inadvertantly zoom in or out by accident. That is, it should only respond to purposeful double taps.
I agree, some fine tuning would be in order. I'd start the specs at 2 quick taps in less than half a second, slower than that would turn QV on and off as usual. To eliminate a runaway (jittery) input, limit the double tap input to one command every couple of seconds. And this feature would have to be optional.
I like to zoom in as I approach the airport and would rather keep my focus on the track line and waypoint rather than glancing for the zoom button. Plus I want to limit the amount of time looking at the navigator instead of looking outside or at the panel during IFR. I could do a zoom function without looking at the navigator.
