Has been mentioned before as pending. Secondary question: Will it work at ALL without input from some artificial horizon device? Obviously with out AH it can't really show synthetic horizon accurately, but will it be able to show ANYthing of any use without AH?

Hi Doc,

All I can say is "it's coming"...I cannot yet give you a date. AHRS will be needed for accurate pitch & roll, otherwise it will show a static straight/level view, but it will still work.

FWIW, the latest Stratux beta has pseudo-AHRS. (GPS derived.) It works surprisingly well. I made a video of Steep turns, Chandells and Lazy 8's. (See Slack for the link.)

Also, I was perusing the FlightBox website (DIY or complete Stratux). Steve is taking pre-orders on an AHRS board. I guess he feels fairly certain that the code will be ready by January. But I've also been perusing the Stratux AHRS Slack channel. They seem like they're making headway - but I didn't get the impression that they would have something by January.

Hi Mike,

I don't do Slack. Bet many of us here don't.

So I just went to the Flightbox website.

For those interested the site is

https://www.openflightsolutions.com/flightbox

And as far as I can see it claims to be a fully capable (more than fully capable) ADS-B in solution for iPad which does integrate with iFly for about $250. If it also implements , as you (Mike) say, a workable AHRS function that can feed into iFly (which will be reall nice when iFly has synthetic vision) sounds well worth investigating.

Mike.... anyway you can post a link to your videos here for us non-slack folks? And are you saying the AH display was on your iFly screen? Or?

I'm kinda embarrassed for not setting the exposure correctly in the video (as you'll see in the second clip, it's hard to see the AI) but here's the link:

Note that this is ONLY pseudo-AHRS derived only from GPS data. My understanding from the developers is that they are going to blend this with their sensor derived AHRS.

Here's a video of a pre-release of that:
