I'm just roughing out this idea for now - I'll try to develop in depth later. This might be a stepping stone to address Cobra's issue of not being able to call up details for airports not in view on the map.

You're flying along into deteriorating weather. You want to check the ATIS's/AWOS's for your destination airport, which is still off the chart. You could go to Flight Plan and call up the Info Page from there to get freqs. (Probably will have to scroll down to the bottom of your Flight Plan if long with a lot of waypoints.) Wouldn't it be nicer to be able to change the Find Nearest category to "Reverse FP" (Reverse Flight Plan) and have a list of your flight plan in reverse? (Your Alternate at the top, your Destination 2nd, and airports along the way next.) This way, you get a quick view of the ATIS/AWOS freqs, get some wx info (if ADS-B equipped). That way, you can still see the map while seeing other info too. (Our Split Screen solution.)

I realize another way to kinda get wx info (if you have ADS-B) is to set the METAR layer active. But I prefer hearing the actual ATIS/AWOS when wx is low or deteriorating. And for those of us who don't have ADS-B, this still gives us a Quick View of freqs. I can preload two of them into my COMMs without having to root back and forth thru Flight Plan.

This might be a step to easily get the IAP for your Destination airport when flying IFR.

We already have a reverse route. I would only use it if I wanted to actually reverse my route, not look for information. Also, if the destination airport is too far down your flight plan to easily find, you are not going to be able to pick up the ATIS or ASOS. My preference is to simply click on Flight Plan and scroll down the screen to the destination airport.

So, once again, you and I are on different pages, but that is OK. How often do you have a flight plan that fills up more than one page? I have NEVER had one.

I don't understand your opposition. If they offer the feature I propose, then simply don't use it. No harm, no foul. (I don't want to reverse my flight plan on the Flight Plan page. That screws up the flight. I just want the wx/airport info presented in an arrival-centric presentation.)

I don't have ADS-B, but I assume one can get wx from your destination airport even if out of radio range? If my field goes zero/zero and I'm still 100 miles out, I'd rather know about it sooner rather than later. This feature would allow me to see that. And/or would allow me to pre-tune my radio to listen for it. (Calling FSS off-freq when IFR is a pain, and when wx is lousy, asking busy ATC for wx 100 miles out is poor form.)

Mike, I am going to express my opinion whether you like it or not. My objection to some of these ideas is I think they are sometimes bad ideas. I am not going to sit back quietly and express no opinion. Your response is always don't use it if you don't want to. I prefer to give Adventure Pilot my feedback to use as part of their evaluation of ideas to implement or not.

I am a user of IFly, not a developer of IFly. I believe they have a wonderful product and it is constantly improving. Expressing new ideas is great, but don't expect everyone to embrace all of them and don't chastise us when we disagree.

Hello Old Pilot:

I did not say that you shouldn't express your opinion. What I said was that I didn't understand your opposition.

I still don't understand your reasoning for why it's a "bad" idea. If it doesn't hurt you in any way, how is it "bad"? (Simply not liking an idea does not make it "bad.") I do have one point to offer, which I'll reluctancy make in another post, for why more is not necessarily better, which might be a valid point for not adopting a new idea.

As for your assumption that I expect iFly to embrace all (or any) of my ideas, I have no such illusions. Nor do I understand where you are getting that from. Like you, I am simply offering ideas which I believe will make iFly an even better product. I consider this brainstorming. In brainstorming, no idea, no matter how crazy or off the wall, is thrown out right away. We should embrace crazy ideas. (That's not to say we should adopt them all.)

I'm sorry that you think I am "chastising" you. Rather, I'm trying to show you that I don't understand your reasoning. And/or I counter with why I don't believe your reason is valid.

But, if you like, I'll stop.
