Always wondered why the long wait to generate the whole data base compare if all I wat is a quick weather and TFR update.

On another note: The WIFI updates seem REALLY slow lately. Just wondering if I'm the only one having that issue.

I've also noticed that quick weather updates take a while these days. I think the weather updates are now downloading lots of radar image data in addition to the METAR/TAF stuff.

Correct: With version 8 weather data went up dramatically as we're downloading nexrad for the country, including a 30 minute animation. But it should still be <2 minutes. And this has been reduced to <1 minute with the upcoming version 9.

If you are seeing more than ~2 mins to download weather your SD card might be suffering from file fragmentation. Unlike your typical hard drive, you cannot really defrag an SD card. The best way to speed it back up is to make a full backup, format the card, then restore your data. If you are not comfortable doing this we have a $10 update-by-mail program where we will do this for you, and fill your card with all the latest data.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong because it seems like my main point was missed. When I turn on my iFly720 for an update via WiFi there is an option for fast weather and TFR update, but even if I select this option it takes the time (which isn't trivial) to go fetch check the latest data base and do a complete data base compare. If all I want is the fast weather and TFR update maybe I don't have time to update the other things, and hence could do without the time required to do the compare. Not a huge issue, but when I'm in a hurry or workign with a slow connection every little bit helps.
