I am currently into the IFR ground school, then off to boring hood work... I know the IFLY will be a huge asset in the plane. At $200 to fix, it's almost worth waiting for another opportunity to get a trade up value to the 720. If I was to upgrade to the ADS-B in the plane, I'd almost be inclined to get the 720 just so I didn't need that extra cable.
It's not that hard to fix! I live in Massachusetts. Anyone close is welcome to contact me for help on this. The IFly is a great product. This is just one component that is succumbing to high interface use.
