I bought my iFly just over two months ago and have flown with it on several cross-country flights. I am very pleased with how it performs and believe it was money well spent.

When I updated to version 5.07, I was testing the new features at home and the GPS locked up. The screen became unresponsive to any commands. Unplugging it and plugging it back in restored functionality.

I flew with the updated software today for the first time. I turned the unit on, set a destination (touched the airport, selected "fly direct") and took off. A few minutes later, because of a change in circumstances, I decided to set a different destination. I touched my intended destination and the context-sensitive menu came up. The iFly froze at this point. Removing and restoring power took care of the issue.

I realize that correlation does not equal cause and that I am a relatively new user, but this has happened to me twice since upgrading to 5.07. Both times, the iFly locked up after a very small number of inputs. Has anyone else seen this?

Chris,

You should contact Ed (support @ adventurepilot.com) to chat about this problem. It's possible the lock up was a random event...but if this is happening regularly it's a problem that needs to be corrected.

Thanks,
Walter

For what it's worth, after I uploaded v5.07 and was playing around with it, the unit locked up on me as well. Can't remember what screen, but a reboot seemed to fix it. Don't know if it will happen again or not - just have to see what happens.

There does seem to be something with 5.7 that causes a periodic crash, a reboot fixes the problem. We're researching and will have an update to correct this asap. At this point I don't think the problem is big enough to warrant rolling back to v4, but we're keeping an eye on it.

Walter - Thanks for your replies. I had the iFly on tonight at home and tried to reproduce the lock-up, but was unable to. I'll keep a close eye on it and, if it happens again, will contact Ed with specifics.

Thanks,

-- Chris
