Install the artificial horizon instrument, then click on it.

Thanks.  Finally got back out to the airport to grab the Stratux and do some troubleshooting.  Turns out it's a bad AHRS board.  I tried a different one and it does not drift after calibration.

Yes, "calibration." That was it.

Was flying this evening, after having not used my Stratux for AHRS for a few months. Maybe it was the change in seasons/temperature (spring to desert summer). But the Stratux web AHRS would drift off within a minute after resetting level. Then I remembered that "calibration" stopped the drift.

To follow up, I reported the issue to Chris Young (Mr. Stratux), in case he wanted to track production issues with the boards.  He pointed me to the Stratux WebUI "Settings" page, and the "Calibrate AHRS Sensors" button on that page, which apparently does something different than the "Reset/Level" button on the GPS/AHRS page.

After clicking that button (with the Stratux on a level surface), the board I thought was faulty started behaving correctly.

Yep, that's the one. I had kinda forgotten that there's a Calibrate button and that it's different from Reset to Level. Apparently the solid state gyros drift over time (longish periods) and when you see the AHRS drift crazily after Reset, then it's time to Calibrate. (As I said above, it happened to me a few flights ago. Took me a while to remember Calibrate.)

Maybe I should suggest to Eric (the AHRS guy) that he change the name of the button to "Drift Correction" or something more ergonomic, so that uses will know what to do when it happens to them.

Glad to hear that you it playing right.
