back on it today, apparently .35 didn't fix the issue, i need somebody to induce the gps error and send us a bug report.

walter went out and bought a pixel 6, had the issue, and .35 fixed it, or so we thought.

Guys,

I'm sorry we're having this problem.  I made some more shot in the dark changes.  They are safe, but since we're unable to reproduce the issue I cannot be confident this is a fix.  But I'm hopeful.  For the teckies in this group, the larger file size is expected we're rolling in additional APIs for Android 12.  Android has made some subtle but significant changes in when it fires a location changed event - we're not the only one experiencing this problem.  Please let us know if your issue persists.

Thanks!
Walter

Installed 11.1.36 on my Samsung S21+ and started it at my home office. For a minute I got the usual "No GPS lock" message, then, as usual it cleared. However, about 1 minute later and every minute or so for 3-4 minutes I got a "Weak GPS signal" message, which is something I've never seen before this. After that, those messages stopped, until, about 10 minutes later...

I took the phone to the car and drove to the grocery store. Wow. Bad.

At first, the plane icon would just make some random orientation changes, but never moving, though I had moved about 3/4 mile and made a turn. After about a mile it updated it's position, but the orientation was way off (boy, was I crabbing). Then it sort of tracked, both position and orientation, until the first long stop. At long stops it would randomly change orientation (not unusual), but also would change position (by hundreds of feet, which is unusual). Then it would track again when I moved -- but only after a very long lag of about 30 seconds. Then it wouldn't track for awhile at all. All along, the Weak GPS Signal message would keep popping up. Curiously, I think the altitude was tracking well, and frequently, but I can't swear to that -- I only thought to look at that during the last mile.

Walter, Thanks for getting back on this!

I loaded the .36 version and did not find any changes in the GPS problem. I did send in a fresh Log file from a clean run and I sent Brolin some notes on things I noticed in the Log file and in the App settings.

Just for info, here are my phone system specs Pixel 5a :

Android Ver 12
Android Security Update  Jan 5, 2022
Google Play system update   Dec 1, 2021
Baseband Ver   g7250-00161-211008-B-7807492
Kernel Ver   4.19.202-g44d65f8296b0-ab7943298
                     #1 Wed Nov 24 08:03:15 UTC 2021
Build Number    SQ1A.220105.002

Let me know if there is anything else I can do on this end to support this problem solving exercise.

Best, John
