Yes, when I touch the "Menu" button it responds as if I touched "Map mode".  All the buttons are shifted like that, including map touches are also shifted.

Touching in the black Navigation bar immediately left of "Menu" does nothing.  So in further investigation, I realize now the "Menu" button is not even selectable.

Your description here is fine.  I just need a way of detecting this situation (which I'm sure exists) and then offseting all screen touches by the appropriate amount.  I'm aiming to have this fixed for the 10.2 release, targeted for very early in 2018.

Depending on how comfortable the user is with Android, there are ways to "hack" the interface to put it in immersive mode, which minimizes all the on-screen notification bars until they're needed.

There are several immersive mode apps in the Play Store, but they require that you hook your device to a PC and run a script in developer mode through ADB.

It's neither difficult nor potentially damaging to your device, but it can seem like Greek if you hadn't done something like that before.

I don't know anything about android, or programming, but if this hack is that simple, and non damaging to the device or its software, perhaps it's something that the iFly folks could program into the android version of iFly.  This would let iFly minimize all the on-screen notification bars until they're needed, then re-maximize them as part of the iFly shut down.

Interesting idea.  I wonder if this would be the ideal solution for iFly?

I don't have a 7.1+ version of Android, but don't apps like Netflix and other video players inhibit those soft buttons to take advantage of full screen real estate?  If so, then iFly could do that, too, if it wanted to.

But one of the benefits of Android is the ease with which you can have multiple apps running and switch between them quickly.  In flight, I often switch between iFly and other apps, like a PDF viewer to look at performance charts, FltPlan GO for my flight plan and my destination airport FBO info, MyFlightbook to record flight log data, etc.  I'm not sure what gesture is required to get those soft buttons to appear, but if it's as simple as tapping the screen, then you're still going to have the problem we're talking about because they'll be there any time you're interfacing with iFly, and if it's more complicated that tapping the screen, it might become annoying to users who flip among multiple apps often.

Which means it might need to be a user preference, which would come with its own set of concerns (another user preference, an Android-unique behavior, etc.)
